To help you prepare for registration, we’ve provided links with important details about program pricing and registration steps. Please review them carefully.

Here are a few tips and things to remember:

  1. The registration process is fully digital. All information will be registered online rather than with an in-person physical paper packet.
  2. Returning students' information has been saved within the system. There will be minimal required fields to update, but please be sure to update student grade and authorized pickups. This will help streamline the process and save time.
  3. New families and students, please prepare the proper materials to apply so that the process is quick and efficient.
    1. We recommend making your Y account in the community portal ahead of time, as this is needed to register for programs. Please see the attached registration manual.
    2. After your account and child contacts have been made, you will need to assign childcare question forms to each student and complete. This is the bulk of our licensed childcare registration packet and MUST be completed first, before choosing registration options.
  4. While selecting your plan (ex. 5 Day PM), you will still need to click and enroll for each day that you need care.
    1.  ex. 5 Day PM- you need to click on MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY)
  1. Withdrawal & Changes To Enrollment: Participants desiring to withdraw from the program need to provide ten business days' written notification to the Business Administrator: [email protected]. Parents/guardians are responsible for the full (non-prorated) monthly program fee if a written notice is not received.

Prime Time

2026-2027 PrimeTime Extended Day FAQs

General Program Information

Q: What is PrimeTime?

A: The PrimeTime Extended Day Program provides an engaging environment where students in grades TK-8 can strengthen their academic skills and participate in fun enrichment activities within the areas of art, science, music and athletics, while improving social skills. Students who participate in the PrimeTime Program will be offered a free supper or snack.

Q: What schools will offer a PrimeTime Program?

A:  All SDUSD comprehensive elementary, middle, and TK-8 schools. See PrimeTime locations on the ELO website.

Q: Does submitting an enrollment application guarantee enrollment in PrimeTime?

A: Before School: Before school PrimeTime program capacity is limited and is not included in the ELOP Rate 1 expansion. Therefore, if a morning program is offered at your site, enrollment applications submitted during the two-week enrollment application window, Monday, April 20, 2026 through Friday, May 1, 2026, will be processed through a lottery system.

After School Program:  After-school PrimeTime programs are available through Universal Access to all pre-registered and currently enrolled San Diego Unified School District TK–8 students for the 2026–27 school year who submit an enrollment application during the two-week application window, from Monday, April 20, 2026, through Friday, May 1, 2026.

Q: When is PrimeTime open?

A: PrimeTime is open every day that the regular school day is in session.

Q: What are the program hours of PrimeTime?

A: Program hours vary at each site for before and/or after school programs. The before school programs are offered for a minimum of 90 minutes before the beginning of the instructional day. Not all schools offer a before school program and space is limited. The after school programs start when the regular school day is dismissed and end no earlier than 6:00 pm.

Q: Is the program open during holidays?

A: No, the program is only open when the regular school day is in session.

Eligibility and Enrollment

Q: How do I determine if my child is eligible for PrimeTime?

A: All TK-8 students at the 144 PrimeTime schools are eligible to apply for PrimeTime services. Our goal is to expand PrimeTime services to meet our community's needs for afternoon services.

Q: Is there criteria for priority enrollment?

The California Department of Education has recently designated SDUSD as a Rate 1 district under the Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). This new status provides universal access to all interested students in grades TK-6 who enroll during the enrollment window (April 20, 2026 - May 1, 2026).

Note: Your student must be enrolled (or pre-registered) at the same school where you are applying for PrimeTime during the regular school day.

Q: My student is currently enrolled in PrimeTime this school year 2025-2026. Am I still required to complete an enrollment application for the 2026-2027 school year?

A: Yes, students currently attending PrimeTime this school year must apply for PrimeTime for the 2026-27 school year.
